My Cultural Identity and how it fits into my Vision...
Hi, if you do not already know me personally! My name is Chris Howard. Since the 8th grade I have had an obsession with doing genealogy, not just mine, but anyone's! I soon realized that I was a mut! I have Native American on both sides of my family, in addition to English, Scottish, Irish, German, French, and even more. However, as most of my immigrant ancestors had been in the United States for hundreds of years I felt that I did not have a real sense of cultural identity like most of my friends growing up in Northern California. My response to this was researching and investigating different religions, philosophies, and cultural aspects of my ancestors. I firmly believe that everything is just energy. Energy can not be created, nor destroyed, only transferred from one form to another. Our purpose in life is to figure out how to transfer the forms energy and use them for the betterment of Mankind. This philosophy is what lead me to researching Native American Shamanism, which I hope to one day to be able to study with a practicing Shaman.

Live life in the Present Moment
Life is so interesting at times. The Universe likes to through wrenches in the spokes, point and laugh, then see how you react to the whole situation. It can be hard to step back, accept the emotions that we are feeling in the Present moment, and then decide what to do with those emotions. We as homo sapiens have this damn fight or flight response, not many stop and think before they act or react. It's not an easy habit to develop either! It takes practice!
What is very interesting, is that this is actually my very first blog and I am excited to see how things evolve over time.

The leap...
After high school I joined the Army, where I was a combat medic. So I have had an interest in the healing arts for a while now. However, it took getting out of the Army and trying out a few things before coming back to the healing arts such as massage. I am currently enrolled in the Utah College of Massage Therapy where I am learning many new modalities of massage and holistic healing. My ultimate goal is assist others in healing with Reiki, Shamanism, and sound therapy.

The Beginning....
It all really started over Winter break last year. I was home for a few weeks and got bored, so like any other bored college student I started cruising through videos on Youtube. That is when I came across a few videos on how to make homemade soaps and bath bombs. Knowing how much of a crafty person that I am, I knew that this was something possible for me to try with my aunt and uncle. I showed them the few videos that I had watched and then things have just taken off! We went from making a few things here and there to actually having a stock to sell, all in less than a year. We have been so excited to share our really great products with all of you! If you have not had a chance to smell our products, check out www.etsy.com/shop/HolisticHeathers, put in your order, and prepare for soft and great smelling skin (and bathroom).
